Checking Eligibility with HEALTHeNET
Verifying patient eligibility is a “top five” type of call received by our Provider Service Department. But there is a faster way to check eligibility online. HEALTHeNET is an online resource that will save you and your office staff time and resources.
On HEALTHeNET, you can:
- Quickly verify patient eligibility
- View patient benefits
- Flag and resolve benefits issues before a patient visits your office
- Check eligibility for patients in out-of-area Blues plans
Go to wnyhealthenet.com/sign-up/ to register. Click on the “Request Form” link on the page to fill out the form. A HEALTHeNET representative will contact you within 48 hours with further instructions.
Your HEALTHENET username and password will also allow you to access secure content on our provider website at bsneny.com/provider. There is no limit to the number of users your practice can have, but each user MUST have their own user account due to protected health information (PHI) rules and access to proprietary data. You should never share your password with anyone, even a coworker or office consultant.
How to Search for Eligibility
Click on “Eligibility Inquiry”, then select BlueShield of Northeastern New York. You will need at least two of the following for the patient:
- Member ID number
- Date of birth
- First and last name
- Social Security number
If you need a record of your confirmation, you can print the benefits page, which will have the date noted in the upper right corner. If you need assistance, please call the HEALTHeNET Help Desk at 1-877-895-4724 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
