Latham, N.Y. – To help make the season brighter for those in need, Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York employees collected 60 gifts for community members through the Capital District YMCA.

With many employees working remotely and in observance of safety guidelines, employees made a special trip to the health plan’s office in Latham to deliver gifts, purchased specially for those in need.

“This time of year, it’s all about giving and helping to bring holiday joy to those in the community who need our support,” said Keith Dolan, Vice President, Commercial Sales, Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York. “What makes me proud is that our employees carry the spirit of giving throughout the whole year.”

Highmark Blue Shield’s holiday gift drive builds on its employees’ long legacy of giving back to the community, especially during the holidays.

Over the past year, Highmark Blue Shield employees also collected and donated thousands of pounds of food for the Regional Food Bank, donated $5,000 to local organizations and sent thousands of healthy snack-packs and meals to those serving on the frontlines of the pandemic. These efforts are separate and apart from Highmark Blue Shield’s robust corporate giving program, which sees annual investments of more than $1 million in local organizations and initiatives that benefit the greater health of the community.
